Who is Lucy?

This initiative is rooted in the undeniable truth that we are our sisters’ keepers, and that BIWOC have always held a sacred space in fermentation. From being the mother of civilization (Lucy), to our participation in the rich origins of brewing and fermentation, to our future in the brewing industry - BIWOC have and will always make valuable contributions to beer culture and development. Ongoing donations will aid women who want to attend cornerstone events or participate in educational opportunities within the industry.

Lifting Lucy is a network of businesses, organizations, and philanthropists serious about disrupting the barriers of entry and major hindrances toward the progress for Black, Indigenous, and other Women of Color (BIWOC) in the beer.

We are dedicated to educating, promoting, connecting, and strengthening the brewing industries' individual and collective efforts of increasing authentic depiction for all Women of Color. Our True North is our vision for BIWOC to have true representation and economic participation in the brewing industry.
