Tranice's Story
Tranice L. Watts is the first Black woman to co-own and operate a craft brewery in the state of Maryland. Her former brewery, Patuxent Brewing Company was also the first craft brewery within Charles County and is still one of the only 100% Black-owned brewery taprooms in the state of Maryland. Additionally, Ms. Watts is a member of the Brewers Association’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Education subcommittee and the Craft Brewers Conference’s Seminar Subcommittee. In 2020, she was appointed as a co-chair for Charles County, Maryland’s Economic Development Business Outreach Committee. Ms. Watts is also a 2022 recipient of the Baltimore Smart Business
Dealmakers of the Year Award for Community Engagement. Tranice’s prior history includes a decade as special assistant to Nobel Laureate and scientist, Dr. Robert W. Corell.
